Title:
˜Theœ Spatiotemporal Dynamics and Interrelationship between National Security, Development, and Openness
Publication:
Berlin: De Gruyter, 2025
Language:

Information:
Abstract: The outcomes of the interplay between national security, development, and openness are critical issues affecting both China and the international community. In this study, an index system for security–development–openness coupling coordination was constructed using panel data from 47 countries between 2000 and 2020. Three key findings were obtained. First, over the time span considered, the global security–development–openness coupling coordination showed a steady upward trend, with the polarization phenomenon weakening. Second, the spatial pattern of the global coupling coordination exhibited path dependency geographically, with no significant hierarchical changes. However, notable spatial heterogeneity was observed, with higher levels in North America and Oceania, lower levels in Africa, and rapid growth in Asia. Third, in terms of convergence, the improvement rate in low coupling regions was significantly higher than that in high coupling regions, leading to a gradual narrowing of the interregional gap. These findings contribute to a novel theoretical framework for understanding the interrelationship between security, development, and openness, which establish a theoretical foundation for regional coordination, optimal resource allocation, and policy design in the context of globalization.
