J . h a t t e die L e i tung d e r B o r s i g w e r k e . u n t e r s t ü t z t von d e m V e r a n t w o r t u n g s b e w u ß t s e i n d e r 3 5 0 0 - k ö p f i g e n B e l e g s c h a f t , a b e r ohne Ahnung von d e m d e m W e r k d r o h e n d e n S c h i c k s a l , den M a g i s t r a t b e s t ü r m t , doch für b e s t i m m t e fehl e n d e R o h s t o f f e zu s o r g e n , w e i l d a s W e r k so l e b e n s w i c h t i g e A r b e i t e n für die g e s a m t e ' I n d u s t r i e und a u c h für die g e s a m t e Zone l e i s t e t . D a s W e r k h a t t e für 28 M i l l i o n e n M a r k A u f t r ä g e und d a m i t B e s c h ä f t i g u n g für f a s t z w e i J a h r e . Wie die B e l e g s c h a f t a u s d e m N i c h t s d e r T r ü m m e r und u n t e r den T r ü m m e r n h e r v o r ein n e u e s W e r k a u f g e b a u t h a t t e , n a c h d e m e s i m M a i und J u n i 1945 ü b e r 2000 M a s c h i n e n , zu d e r e n V e r l a d u n g m e h r a l s 50 E i s e n b a h n z ü g e n o t w e n d i g g e w e s e n w a r e n , " v e r l o r e n h a t t e , so w a r e n B e l e g s c h a f t und L e i t u n g d e s W e r k e s d o c h o p t i m i s t i s c h , m i t d i e s e m n o t d ü r f t i g e n B e t r i e b w e n i g s t e n s ein K r a n k e n h a u s s e i n zu k ö n n e n für all j e n e n R e p a r a t u r - und E r s a t z b e d a r f für f r ü h e r g e l i e f e r t e B o r s i g - M a s c h i n e n , d e r s i c h n a c h d e m K r i e g e l a w i n e n m ä ß i g a n g e s t a u t h a t t e . Sie w a r e n a u c h optimistisch, mit i h r e r Lokomotiv-Halle jenen entsetzlichen LokomotivF r i e d h o f in B e r l i n und in d e r Zone m i t n e u e m L e b e n e r f ü l l e n zu können; in d e r Z o n e w a r e n d a m a l s von 7 - b i s 8000 L o k o m o t i v e n n u r 350 g e b r a u c h s fähig, und d a s W e r k h ä t t e b e i l e i d l i c h e r L i e f e r u n g v o n B a u m a t e r i a l i e n z u m F l i c k e n d e r g r o ß e n H a l l e die M ö g l i c h k e i t g e h a b t , m o n a t l i c h 10 S c h w e r s t b e s c h ä d i g t e L o k o m o t i v e n v o l l zu ü b e r h o l e n . D a s a l l e s v o l l z o g s i c h i m F e b r u a r d s . J s . n o c h in d e r S t i l l e u n d ohne die A u f m e r k s a m k e i t d e r Öffentlichkeit. Wie e i n B l i t z t r a f a m 1. M ä r z die B e l e g s c h a f t e n und die B e v ö l k e r u n g von B e r l i n d e r B e f e h l d e r F r a n z ö s i s c h e n M i l i t ä r r e g i e r u n g , d e r in d e r Hauptsache folgenden Wortlaut hat: D a s W e r k R h e i n m e t a l l - B o r s i g w i r d a m 1.4. 1947 z u r L i q u i d a t i o n g e s t e l l t w e r d e n . F o l g l i c h w i r d die g a n z e B e l e g schaft d e s W e r k e s z u m 1.4. 1947 e n t l a s s e n . Da die A r b e i t i m W e r k n u r stufenweise aufhören soll, wird ein T e i l d e r Belegschaft sofort wieder eingestellt werden: 1. für den B e d a r f d e r A r b e i t e n in d e r Elektrizitätskraftzentrale; 2. für die B e e n d i g u n g g e w i s s e r F a b r i k a t i o n e n ; 3. für die A r b e i t d e r V e r w a l t u n g s ä m t e r ; 4 . für den U n t e r h a l t und den Schutz d e s W e r k e s . A l s d i e s e r B e f e h l b e k a n n t w u r d e , ging e i n e E r s c h ü t t e r u n g d u r c h B e r l i n . Die S t a d t v e r o r d n e t e n v e r s a m m l u n g b e s c h l o ß s o f o r t , den M a g i s t r a t zu b e a u f t r a g e n , s i c h a n den K o n t r o l l r a t zu w e n d e n und d i e s e n u m e i n e E n t s c h e i d u n g zu b i t t e n , die die S t i l l e g u n g o d e r die D e m o n t a g e d e s W e r k e s v e r h i n d e r t . Denn d a s W e r k , d a s in d i e s e m B e f e h l R h e i n m e t a l l - B o r s i g g e n a n n t w i r d , h a t m i t d e r R h e i n m e t a l l - B o r s i g A .
